Once upon a time I jumped out of a plane

I've been trying to sort through my mess of a photos folder on my laptop, why doesn't anyone teach you how to keep these kind of things in order?

As I was sorting through the chaos I found my old skydive pictures and thought they'd be fun to share.

It was a beautiful day in March 2009, and a group of us got together to do a charity skydive to raise money for the foundation set up in our friend JT's memory.

It was a perfect day and a fitting tribute to our friend. JT was an old school friend, who was killed by a roadside bomb while he was serving in Afghanistan as an officer in the Royal Marines. His family set up the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation and I was honoured to be part of this day.

You will see that in an effort to keep the glam stakes up I skydived in red nail varnish and sequined Converse.

Weekly Web Watch #17

Morning all! 

You know, I live for the day that getting to the weekend doesn't feel like such an enormous achievement. When did life get like this? We work all week in (unless we're one of the lucky few) jobs we'd rather not be doing, to have one or two days off at the end of it. And half of one of those days is clouded with back to work blues. The rest of it is usually filled with housework and doing things we don't really want to do. I think it's January talking, but from now on I'm banning myself from housework for 75% of the weekend, it'll have to get done in the evenings or in the 25% of the weekend that is already clouded.

Despite my moaning I have enjoyed a few things this week.

Happy Burns Night!

I'm half-Scottish, have I mentioned that? And I like to give a nod to Burns Night partly because I feel a mild patriotic responsibility, but mostly because veggie haggis and whisky are two of my very favourite things!

Veggie haggis, neeps, tatties, roasted brussel sprouts (the only way to eat sprouts) and a wee whisky in the background. Yum.

I'll leave you with a lovely poem by good old Rabbie Burns.

A Rose-bud By My Early Walk

A Rose-bud by my early walk,
Adown a corn-enclosed bawk,
Sae gently bent its thorny stalk,
All on a dewy morning.

Wednesday WIP

Corr, it's been a while since I did a Wednesday WIP, I maintain my stance that January is a creativity sponge.

This morning I have been getting the bits together for my Burns Night supper tonight. I'm quite excited, veggie haggis is my favourite.

I'll try to remember to take photos of the feast for one before I demolish it!
